SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), formerly SRM University, is a private deemed university, located in Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu (near Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India. Founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, it gained the deemed University status in 2002. SRM Institute of Science and Technology is spread across five campuses — Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani,(all in Chennai), Ghaziabad and Tiruchirappalli. Those are all same University as per section 3 of University Grants Commission Act, 1956. It has three sister universities in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Sikkim.

Admission Details
SRM Institute of Science and Technology course admission 2025 is ongoing. The admission is entrance-based for most of the courses. SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST), formerly known as SRM University accepts national-level entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, TANCET, NATA, etc. for admission to MBA, BArch, and other courses. SRM University admission to courses like BTech and MTech is also through the entrance exams like SRMJEEE, SRMJEEM, etc, which are conducted by the SRM University Chennai.
SRM University offers more than 80 courses through eight faculties at UG, PG, doctoral, and diploma levels in multiple streams like Engineering Management, Science, Humanities, Law, etc. Apart from full-time courses, the university also provides various distance-learning courses via SRM Distance Education mode (SRMODE).
Topmost Facilities
- Modern Laboratory: This College has research laboratories equipped with modern infrastructure that aims to provide superior practical training for the students. The medical college offers separate research laboratories for Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology.
- Lecture Halls: This College offers four centrally air-conditioned lecture halls with a seating capacity of 180 students at a time. The lecture halls have audio-visual facilities for interactive learning. The medical classes are recorded so that students can attend important lectures from the hostel in case of illness or any other issues.
- Central Library : This College has a very good library and 17 departmental libraries dedicated to medical books, journals, WHO publications, CD ROMs, and Internet services. These are designed in a way that serves the needs of students, and faculties and for research purposes.
- Sports and Games: This College has outdoor and indoor sports facilities for the candidates. They organize outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and a 400-meter track for athletics and indoor games like carom, chess, and others.
- Cafeteria: The cafeteria at SRM provides delicious and hygienic foods at a reasonable cost. The menus are decorated in a way to gives the essence of home-cooked food and serves the delicacies of Bengal.
- Hostel Facility: SRM provides residential areas with modern facilities for girls and boys both. The hostels provide recreational activities too.
- Demo Room: Every medical department of SRM has its demo room with a seating capacity of 75 students at a time. These demo rooms come with audio-visual facilities and CCTV surveillance.
